Pain Management and the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

With the changes upon us as result of the Coronavirus Pandemic, there are specific risks and concerns you should be aware of prior to any treatments you receive. Flint Hills Pain Management wants you to be informed and to seriously consider these risks before proceeding with your procedure.

Most of the procedures performed at this facility involve the injection of steroid. Steroids can decrease your immune system. Depending on your personal health and pre-existing illnesses, the effects of the steroids can continue to inhibit your immune system from 30 to 90 days. Should you contract an illness, whether it would be the coronavirus or not, your body is under greater risk and stress to fight off the infection.

No injections can be given to anyone over the age of 70.

No injections should be given to anyone 60 or over, with pre-existing conditions that require daily medical treatment to control, Heart disease (hypertension, previous heart attacks, cardiac-related chest pains, coronary heart disease, heart valve conditions, congestive heart failure), Lung disease, and Diabetes.

Despite your age and health, there is still risk involved receiving steroids. If you choose to wait, we will be happy to reschedule while more information about this pandemic becomes available. Thank you for your understanding.
